Russian Furniture
Dr. Anna Milostanova, VP
www.1contemporary.com

Dr. Anna meets with factory representative Doug Higgins at the International Furniture Market (photo above).
Anna is a Russian furniture buyer with a keen eye for European furniture. "Many of our customers from India all share
the same last name - Patel. Indian people like Russian people love contemporary Italian furniture. The finest Russian,
Indian, and European furniture comes from Italy. Everyone in the world loves modern Italian furniture," Dr. Anna says.

Russian Furniture

Prior to joining 1 Contemporary Furniture Dr. Anna Milostanova was a Russian gynecologist in charge of the surgery department at hospital N27 in the Ukraine. "I grew up in the Russian city of Kharkov, a large city of 1,400,000, part of the former Soviet Union, located in modern day Ukraine. My grandfather was the famous surgeon of Stalingrad who saved many lives under extreme circumstances during WWII," she says.

Contemporary Furniture Showroom

Gill & Anna work from thier contemporary furniture showroom located at Hilton Head Island (Bluffton to locals). The art entitled When: Him & Her? is from our Contemporary Art collection. Prior to founding 1 Contemporary Furniture Gill Fisher was an American captain working in Europe aboard yachts like M/Y Shamwari, a 140 foot Italian motor yacht on charter in the Mediterranean with 12 crew. Also see the M/Y Americana built in 1929. Gill holds a USCG 1600 ton masters license. To view more yachts see the Slide Show. Working in Italy Fisher fell in love with modern furniture. Capt. Fisher also holds a BSBA degree in Accounting from Appalachian State University, located in the heart of North Carolina's furniture industry. "1 Contemporary Furniture remains committed to North Carolina furniture, although much of our furniture comes from Italy, Canada, and other regions of the United States. North Carolina has the largest international furniture market in the world. Some consumers think they can go to directly to the furniture market and purchase. Wholesale furniture markets are not open to the public," Capt. Gill says.

As you may suspect Anna and Gill are a husband-wife team. She was shopping on the Internet for Italian furniture from Russia when an American company named 1 Contemporary Furniture caught her eye. Russian people like all people love Italian furniture. Gill & Anna met in person and where married in 2003. When they are not working with modern furniture and art at 1 Contemporary Furniture, they enjoy the extraordinary natural beauty of Hilton Head Island. The bottle nose dolphin (photo above) is one of the few species on earth that is intelligent enough to recognize himself in a mirror. We support Protect Patients Now, doctors for medical liability reform.

"Just minutes from our Contemporary Furniture Showroom there are over 800 islands to explore.
The only island people know about is Hilton Head Island because of the extraordinary golf. And of course people know historic
Savannah, GA. The whole area is rich in water sports like salt water fishing. Shark fishing is one of my favorites. Shark is good
to eat," says Capt. Gill.

"I never thought that I would be lucky enough to live on an island by the sea. I am learning.
As a Russian and American I love Russian furniture which is to most Russian and Indian people means Italian furniture.
Sharks are interesting to medicine because the shark is one of few species on earth that does not develope
cancer. If we kill all the sharks we may be killing the cure," Dr. Anna says. The baby sand shark (photo above)
was returned to the sea immediatly in excellent health. "Never kill anything unless you intend to eat it. Too
many sharks are being killed today. Sharks are very important to the environment because they are scavengers
that keep the ocean clean. We must protect the sea because it is a vital source of food for all mankind world-wide,"
Capt. Fisher says. We support South Carolina Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers.
